Tips for fundraisers
Product Recommendations
Our most popular shirt is the Gildan Ultra Cotton T-shirt, a standard fitting unisex shirt with a variety of size options and colors at a budget-friendly price point. Trendy or names brands are typically less fundraiser friendly but enjoyed by supporters.
We use Custom Ink's entire catalog, but please note that not all their products are available for fulfillment. For example, we’re not able to individually ship 12 oz glass drinkware, but we can ship them all to one place. Contact our team for more information about non-apparel items!
Design Recommendations
Printing in multiple locations (front and back) vs. single locations (front OR back) and the number of colors printing per location (1 color of ink vs. 2+) impacts the cost of producing the shirt. Consider designs that support your cause and deliver your message while allowing you the ability to raise funds. Check out this article for more info on designs for fundraisers!
A note on sleeve prints: Due to system limitations, if you add a sleeve design for your fundraiser, the system will not register it accurately, meaning your funds raised will be lower than what you will see in your dashboard. Generally speaking a sleeve is going to add around $4-6 per shirt, and your print minimum will increase because your product has a higher production cost. If you are interested in a sleeve print, give us a call and a representative can help you!
Selling Price
Generally, shirts should be priced at $20-$25. If you choose a premium product or have a multi-colored design, you may want to set your price at $30-$35. We found that supporters will typically donate around $40 for a cause, so don’t be afraid to set a price higher than $20!
Ask yourself two important questions: what price point do you want to sell these at, and how big is your target audience (which impacts how many items you believe will be sold). Here is an example of what per piece profit can look like depending on the selling prince (and production cost) of your fundraiser:
- 9 shirts sold = Print Minimum Met - items sold but no profit made YET
- 15 shirts sold = Earn about $5 per shirt
- 25 shirts sold = Earn about $7 per shirt
- 50 shirts sold = Earn about $10 per shirt
Remember the 3 determining factors of profit: your selected product, your desired design, and your selling price. Check out this article for more info.
