Around the World

"Since globalization impacts the life of every person and every nation on the planet, I want my students to become true global citizens who can contribute to the dialogue of globalization. My students want to have that dialogue because we have spent the year studying about culture, history and contemporary issues. The purpose of our project is to bring students from different cultures and backgrounds together to promote global awareness and understanding. We hope to do this through a combination of activities that utilize videoconferencing and social media for the exchange of information and ideas. The culminating activity involves Passaic Valley High School hosting a series of approximately one-hour individual videoconferences with participating schools during one 24-hour period in May. Students engage in discussion on selected topics and problem-solving. The interactive videoconferences are run by student moderators. This year we spoke to Afghanistan, Russia, Northern Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Pakistan, India, Denmark, and Slovenia. We are talking to Singapore in this photo. We wore our t-shirts from CustomInk all day and many of the other schools in other countries told us that our t-shirts looked great! I want to thank CustomInk because this was a rush order and our t-shirts looked awesome! My students now have them as a keepsake of our event!
