A Match for Karen

"A Match for Karen is an annual volleyball tournament hosted by University of Maryland's student organization, D4 Athletics. Their goal is to bring students together of all skill levels to play both spontaneous pickup sports as well as sports for a cause. A Match for Karen was created in partnership with American Cancer Society's Relay for Life to bring students together to honor Karen Shollenberger and support the fight against childhood cancer. Karen worked very closely with Johns Hopkins Camp Sunrise - a camp for children who either have beaten or are currently fighting cancer. Unfortunately, Karen lost her own battle with Leukemia this past August. As an organization at the University of Maryland, students came together to continue the selfless legacy that Karen left behind and raised over $500 within the span of the two-hour event (more money was raised after the picture was taken!). As D4 Athletics continues to grow, they are eager to develop an even stronger relationship with the Custom Ink team and they look forward to sharing their awesome jerseys again next year!
