About this campaign

Be Not Afraid (BNA) is a private non-profit organization which provides comprehensive case management to parents carrying to term following a prenatal diagnosis. Founded thirteen years ago, BNA strives to meet the emotional and tangible needs of parents carrying to term and supports them in becoming advocates for their babies with a range of life-limiting diagnoses including Trisomy 18 and Trisomy 13. BNA prepares parents for birth by providing them with information and research, suggested referrals, and on-going support in the development of an actionable birth plan and an individualized newborn care plan

Our daughter Zoe Angelinh Peterson was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 at 10 weeks gestation and immediately deemed “incompatible with life”. Termination was strongly recommended for her because we were told she would NOT survive birth and if she did, would die shortly after. Unfortunately, we were given no hope or resources at the time and were led to believe that babies with full Trisomy 18 did not survive. Despite this devastating news and inaccurate data, we opted to go against their odds, carry Zoe to term, and let God take the lead on her life.29C07630-D29E-4FA1-A82B-F095FB678FD2jpeg

Well, Zoe did survive birth and after 8 days in the NICU, was sent home on Hospice with the expectation that she'd likely pass away within the month. Fortunately, Zoe had her own plans to defy the odds and once again went beyond the expectations set upon Trisomy kids like her. She not only made it to her 1st birthday but has continued to Redefine Trisomy 18 by showing how truly unique, strong, and compatible with life our Trisomy kids are when given the support and interventions needed to tell their own story.

This January, Zoe turned FIVE YEARS OLD and is continuing to be a Rule Breaker by living her best life, spreading awareness, and helping advocate for unbiased care and interventions in the medical community for all her Trisomy brothers and sisters.

Share your pride for all the past, present, and future Trisomy Rule Breakers like Zoe by supporting this campaign and the wonderful work that the Be Not Afraid organization is doing to help support them,

Together we can all help Redefine Trisomy 18 & 13!
