1 in 100 babies are born with a CHD, making Congenital Heart Defects the most common birth defect. Sadly, 20% of babies born with a CHD will not live to celebrate their 1st birthday. At least 50% will have to have at least one invasive heart surgery in their lifetime. More children die each year from congenital heart defects than from all forms of childhood cancers combined. Research for Congenital Heart Defects is grossly underfunded. Please help us by donating today. The goal is to raise money to help Tara-Leigh Cobble offset her medical expenses related to her CHD, while spreading awareness about Congenital Heart Defects.
Tara-Leigh Cobble was born with a few major congenital heart defects (more info listed below). A team of cardiac specialists determined that she needed to undergo a series of heart surgeries to repair her aortic valve and replace part of her descending aorta.
TLC had her first Open Heart Surgery on September 29, and her 2nd Open Heart Surgery just 9 weeks later on Dec 8. Both surgeries involved lengthy stays at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano. Her family flew out to be with her during her surgeries and recoveries.
The overall cost is in the range of nearly $1,000,000. Fortunately, TLC does have insurance, but it does not cover the entire cost of all three surgeries, nor the vast expenses associated with the surgeries, the preliminary testing, rehab/recovery, and follow-up testing. We're aiming to raise only 5% of the costs, hoping that will cover the bulk of what she will personally encounter.
If you know TLC, you know she believes every detail matters. So even if you can give $1 to help her with these expenses, it matters. And even if you're not led to give but are called to pray for her and her family during this time, it matters. Thank you for being a part of what God is doing in and through her life!
