About this campaign

The Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention (ArCOP) works through a project called Growing Healthy Communities (GHC) to help communities all across our state to get healthier through improvements in access to healthy & affordable foods and access to physical activity. We provide technical assistance and funding to communities to build community gardens, support farmers markets, build bicycle and pedestrian pathways, connect walking trails, and many other projects to make the healthy choice, the easy choice.

The Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention (ArCOP) was formed in 2007. ArCOP’s two main goals are to increase access to healthy and affordable foods and increase access to physical activity. Growing Healthy Communities (GHC) is the foundational project developed by the ArCOP in 2009 to build capacity within local communities to address these goals. Currently sixty-four communities are recognized for the steps they have taken to decrease obesity in 2016. We hope to expand our reach to many more!
