Team Mighty Mason

July 2019 started a long battle for our little hero! Mason Thomes who is 7 year’s old the Son of Tony & Jamie Thomes of Chisago City, MN along with Mason’s Brother & two Sisters are fighting the battle of their life! In July 2019 after Mason had complaints of a headache and random vomiting Jamie brought him to the ER where the Dr, told Jamie that he needed to be seen at Children’s Hospital as soon as possible. Tony & Jamie were able to get him in the next day, after having an MRI it was found that Mason had Hydrocephalus (water on his Brain) and was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (Brain Tumor) that had also spread to his spine. On July 31st ,2019 Mason went through a 10-hour surgery where the Dr’s tried to remove as much of the Tumor as they medically & safely were able to. Mason experienced a long stay at the U of M Children’s Masonic Hospital where Tony & Jamie took turns staying with Mason while the other would be home caring for their other 3 children. Mason has fought through multiple rounds of Chemo, a 31-day stent of Radiation Treatment that started on September 4th along with many DR. appointments testing and hours of therapy. Mason is a fighter and continues fighting the good fight! Update: After all this little hero has been through his battle is not over yet! On February 10th, 2020 Mason returned to the Hospital for an MRI to check his progress before beginning his next Chemo Treatment, they returned the next day to receive his MRI results and begin Mason’s next Chemo Treatment, Unfortunately the Family received news that no Family wants. The Chemo that Mason had been getting was not having the success they initially thought, and the cancer had returned in Mason’s brain and his spine. Mason’s fight is not over! Mason continues to fight with his Family by his side fighting even harder for him. Tony & Jamie are hoping that Mason will be able to get into a Clinical Trial, but they are not sitting still in the wait, they continue searching for other options. They are in it to win this battle! This Family has been through a long journey and have a longer costly journey ahead of them trying to do all that is medically possible while still trying to maintain as normal a life as possible for their other 3 children and keeping up with every day expenses along with unexpected medical expenses. We can come together to help deplete their financial worries and gift them the gift of time to focus on Mason and have their time as a Family. There is Power in Prayer! Please keep Praying!
