About this campaign
Our family has been impacted by suicide on multiple occasions in the past year. Most recently our son, Brandon Jr, took his own life. He felt that the only way to combat his battle with depression was to end his life. He was much too young to leave this earth and will be missed deeply.
This fundraiser is to bring awareness to suicide especially in young children and to support Brandon Jr's family. So many people are struggling with depression and feel that they are alone and cannot take the burden anymore. We want to ensure that these people understand that they are not alone and that they matter to so many people.
Brandon Koppenhaver, a junior at State High in the culinary program, who was known to many of us as “Junior” or “Midget” lost his battle with depression on January 18, 2021. Brandon was a real character, always lifting the spirits of others. He was deeply impacted by the death of his friend, David O’Connell one year earlier.
