Mission

RCR is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting a community on and around the James River. We strive to make rowing and other water sports available to everyone regardless of background, ability, or experience. We promote an active Richmond and provide all members of the community an opportunity for recreation on the river. RCR partners with area non-profits and organizations in an effort to best facilitate the community. We look to expand the sport of rowing into the community and act as the access point to the river.

Who We Are

RCR was formally founded in 2016 in hopes of expanding the sport we love, rowing, to those who have never had the opportunity to experience it. We currently partner with the VCU Crew Team, the University of Richmond Crew Team, the Virginia Boat Club, Sportable, and the City of Richmond to provide and facilitate our programs. We offer adaptive programs, competitive programs, high school rowing, development camps, corporate rows, and veteran’s rowing.

Where We Are Going

RCR is striving to grow this community every day. Part of that expansion includes more programs. We hope to partner with Richmond Public Schools in an effort to reach Richmond City Kids. We plan to grow our fleet and begin our Boathouse Initiative to provide a better space for our athletes to row. We look to be a leading organization for river recreation in RVA.
