About this campaign
We created the logos on this shirt for two reasons. The main reason is to raise awareness for Lex's rare condition, Glycogen Storage Disease, but the shirt is also designed to tell a little bit of our story. On the front of the shirt you will notice in the word "cure" the "R" is constructed with a DNA helix. This represents the fact that Lex's GSD is part of his DNA. Wade and I did not know we were both carriers of the mutated gene and we both passed that gene to Lex when God so wonderfully created him. The helix in the design does not touch the bridge of the letter because with Lex's condition there is a missing enzyme in his liver signaling for it to "r"elease the built up sugar back into his body. In the GSD community we are known to live by the clock. This brings us to the design on the back of the shirt. The "I" in fight is replaced with a ribbon of hope. The clock is set on 9:29, Lex's birthday. We chose green as the main color because that is the color for our ribbon of hope but also made them available in charcoal grey.
In Lex's short 4 month life he has had 2 separate hospital stays, each one week long. He is also about to have surgery to have his G-tube placed. As you can probably imagine these hospital bills are quickly costing some pretty pennies. A lot of people have asked if we were going to set up a go fund me but we thought if we sold shirts you would get something in return as well as help raise awareness for Glycogen Storage Disease.
