NYC EMS COVID-19 Fundraiser

The dedicated men and women of New York City's EMS system are on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19. We're understaffed, underfunded, underequipped, and, most of all, overworked. On an average day, NYC EMS handles approx 4500 callls. Our busiest day ever, was 9/11. On Tuesday, March 24th, we shattered that record with 6400 calls. Wednesday we did 6500. Thursday we did 7100. Today is March 30th - since Tuesday March 24th, we have responded to roughly 33,000 calls. That's more than most places see in a year - and we've done it in 5 days.

We're exhausted and we're getting sick. There are approximately 200 of us out on quarantine from the virus. One of our sisters is in the ICU on ECMO. Given our job, these numbers are expected to rise significantly in the coming weeks. We can't isolate ourselves from everyone else - it's our job to go into sick people's homes. And every single one of us will continue to do that job until we get sick.

You may have read in the news recently that Pornhub generously donated 25,000 masks for us and our families to use. All of us are extremely grateful to them for their donation. We're also grateful to them for sparking the idea for this shirt. The design was a collaborative effort by several EMT's and Paramedics who work in the NYC 911 system.
