Newfound Basketball Broadcasting T-Shirt Fundraiser

Hello, my name is Ben LaPlume and I am going to be a senior in high school this upcoming year. This past winter I got the opportunity to commentate the Newfound varsity basketball home games and I had nothing short of a wild experience. My dream for a while now has been to commentate for the NBA and after I started to call Newfound games I really realized that this career path is something I definitely would like to go down. My passion for commentating has also to lead me into choosing broadcasting as my senior project topic. There have been problems with calling Newfound’s games unfortunately. We don’t have the most amazing cameras or microphones and equipment like that. My hope is that this fundraiser will create the opportunity for us to improve on the equipment we have, so that I can help make the broadcasts a better experience. I figured out last winter that I love entertaining the fans of Newfound during basketball games. Hopefully this fundraiser can help me and everyone helping me give all of the Newfound faithful a better viewing experience.

So what’s the story behind this t-shirt?

While calling a Varsity game last season, we were playing against a team who had Newfound down by 2. On the next Newfound possession, One of our star players, Malina Bohlman took a 3 point shot and MADE IT, putting Newfound up. The other team called a time out, and in shock and awe, my response was “Geezum Louiseium”, shared into the commentary.
It seemed like an all encompassing term for the moment, and has become a fan favorite. Its even been used a time or 2 in my commentary since then.
