About this campaign

Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined. (American Cancer Society)

Increase lung cancer awareness and consider getting yourself screened for lung cancer.

Rhonda was diagnosed with lung cancer at age 50, and decided she wanted go hiking despite her decreased lung capacity from surgery 4 weeks prior. The design of this shirt was inspired by her. See more of Rhonda's story below.

"Lung cancer happens to older people... It won't happen to me until much later."
Those were the thoughts of my mother, Rhonda (above, age 50), who is now undergoing treatments for stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. She was fortunate enough to have had the need for an annual chest x-ray because of her years of smoking and other conditions--giving her a fairly early diagnosis.
There have been countless others who have lived with undiagnosed lung cancer for years, giving the disease time to spread throughout the body.
Lung cancer is a silent killer because it is often not found until it is far too late to fight for a cure--as was the case for Rhonda's mother, who only discovered the disease once it had reached her brain. Rhonda's mother lived less than 4 months after being diagnosed.
Rhonda is doing what many individuals cannot: Fighting for her cure.
Statistics published by the American Cancer Society say that "2 out of 3 people diagnosed with lung cancer are age 65 or older," but there are always exceptions to these statistics--Rhonda was one of them.
Take her advice and get yourself screened, and increase lung cancer awareness.
