This is a joint fundraiser for two amazing "miracle babies" Maverick Fox Phillips and Henry Winston Hill. There are other shirt options for toddlers and women in a simultaneous campaign.
These shirts were inspired during my lowest point of our NICU journey, but it was a moment of hope and I can't help but be forever grateful to Henry's mom, Leigha, for the words that she spoke to me that first time we met.
As most of you know, Maverick's liver was in bad shape at one point, and the doctors thought he had a fatal condition called Biliary Atresia. While we waited for the results of the liver biopsy, I happened to meet Leigha, mom to the smallest baby in the NICU at the time, Henry. Henry was born at 24 weeks, weighing just barely over 1 pound. At just three weeks old, he was not doing well to the point that the doctors thought he might not survive. They told Leigha and Kile, Henry's dad, to come and hold him. It was the first time they were able to hold their baby boy, and fortunately, just the first of many. Henry miraculously survived through the night. It was a true miracle! This was shortly before Leigha and I met.
We met while doing the mandatory hand-washing ritual that we had done countless times before entering the NICU. I was falling apart, and she asked about our baby. When I told her that he might not make it, she looked at me with such hope and conviction, and said something I will NEVER forget. "Miracles DO happen! They happened for us, for our baby Henry." She stood there trying to convince me over and over, and we hugged, and then we waited. The next day, Matt and I met with the doctor, the surgeon's PA, and our nurse to find out the results of Maverick's liver biopsy. Turns out, Leigha was right! Miracles DO happen, and the results of the biopsy were a true miracle! Maverick did not have the fatal condition, and his liver would have a chance to recover from the damage caused by the use of long-term TPN (the IV nutrition that continues to keep him alive).
After that situation, I am 100% convinced that miracles happen, and they happened for our Little Fox as well as sweet Henry. If you have a miracle baby, know a miracle baby, or if you just believe in miracles, we would love for you to snag one of these awesome shirts. If we reach our sales goal of 100 shirts/onesies, we will donate a onesie to each of the current NICU babies at Providence St. Vincent Hospital when the fundraiser ends! Help us in our campaign to lift up those who are struggling, and spread the message of hope that "Miracles Happen"! Thank you so much from two NICU moms in Oregon!
