About this campaign
The Margate Terrapin Rescue Project’s mission is to protect local Diamondback Terrapin populations from vehicular mortality by installing/repairing roadside barriers as well as daily patrols during the nesting season. By installing roadside barriers, we have been able to statistically significantly reduce the number of terrapin fatalities due to motor vehicles. The installation and yearly repairs of the roadside barriers coupled with daily patrols along the causeway has been and will continue to reduce the number of overall preventable fatalities.
