My sweet mama was diagnosed with Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). APL is a blood cancer characterized by a marked increase in a type of white blood cells known as promyelocytes, a type of immature white blood cell. It develops in about 600 to 800 individuals each year in the United States, most often in adults around the age of 40. She is currently at Northside Hospital - Bone Marrow Transplant floor. They have informed us that she will be there a minimum of 30 days to begin treatment and establish care plan. She has began ATRA and Arsenic treatment today. She is currently fighting double pneumonia, Metapnuemovirus, and APL. She will require blood transfusions and other care. I am raising money to assist with transportation, hotels, and other costs. She is so strong and she is our Wonder Woman. This has nothing on her at all.
