CHD awareness 2015

Being a part of a group like Mended Little Hearts is something that is life changing. Not that the rest of your family or friends don't sympathize or don't understand the fear that you have faced because of a child's Congenital Heart Defect, but when you show up to a meeting and cry the entire time because your child has a "virus" and you are convinced that it is going to in someway affect his heart, you are met with immediate hugs, prayers, and understandings because these parents have been there too, in that exact moment at some point on their journey. The majority of the children are still to young to understand the impact that their lives have had on their parents, some will never get the opportunity to understand. It is very easy to be brave when things are going well, it's when new diagnosis, annual or bi-annual doctor's visits, or undiagnosable issues arise that your bravery is put to the test. Every time Andy and I attend a  meeting we walk away and are so incredibly thankful for our MLH family. We are thankful to be able to be vulnerable when we need to be but, mostly to Be Brave with a group of parents and special kiddos that just can't be beat. Help us spread the love this month, Be Brave, support Mended Little Hearts....the littlest hearts really do hold the biggest hopes!
