Jacqui grew up in Kotzebue and spent her teenage summers with the Sivulliq Youth Media training group. They learned basic journalism and film production skills while interviewing Eskimo dancers in Kotzebue, Barrow and Chukotka Russia. In 2014, she was inspired at the Inuit Circumpolar Council General Assembly in Inuvik Canada to start a magazine that celebrated the Inuit culture, starting in Kotzebue with a few of her friends who shared their artwork, photography and stories. The first one was launched in 2015.

The Qargizine is now going into its third year and 9th issue. While it can be exhausting to run the magazine alone, Jacqui has plans to expand into other media productions with a few podcasts, a news digest for rural and Alaska Natives and other video productions. The team is coming together so in 2018, EsquiMedia will begin launching new outlets that celebrate and discuss current events across Alaska.
