Letters to a Pre-Scientist

Letters to a Pre-Scientist is adding three new classrooms for the 2018-19 school year! Your order of a T-shirt or sweatshirt will help us reach more pre-scientists in the coming school year by growing the program from 9 to 12 classrooms! Over the next two years, we aim to triple the size of our program, and reach at least 1,800 pre-scientists during the 2019-2020 school year.

Letters to a Pre-Scientist is currently a fiscally-sponsored project of Social Good Fund. We are in the process of obtaining independent 501(c)3 nonprofit status.

Letters to a Pre-Scientist fosters personal connections between middle school student "pre-scientists" and real scientists. We envision a day when all students have equitable access to an engaging science education. Our mission is to demystify science careers by creating personal connections between students from high-poverty schools and real scientists. We do this through a letter-writing program that is entering its 9th year: student "pre-scientists" and scientists exchange 8 letters over the course of a school year. In 2017-18, we had over 650 pre-scientists participating in the program!
