About this campaign

On December 11, 2020, heaven gained an angel when our beautiful Ginny lost her battle with PTSD. In the months since we lost Ginny, we established the Virginia L. Sweetser Memorial Scholarship Fund as a Vermont non-profit corporation and are anxiously awaiting to hear back on our 501(c)(3) designation. The scholarship fund will help female veterans with the cost of higher education in the fields of social work, psychology or psychiatry.

Ginny was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having served with the 443rd Transportation Company and stationed at FOB Speicher in Tikrit, Iraq during the early part of the war.

Sgt. Ginny or "Sweets" as she was known by, suffered mightily with PTSD after returning from the war. But notwithstanding, she was a light to many and helped so many others through their challenges. She was the voice for those without a voice and the advocate for those who needed someone to have their back. She was a shining star and we want her beacon to continue to help others.

We know Virginia would be honored to have her legacy be one of continuing to help other soldiers carrying the burden of freedom.
