Help Bring Roller Skating Back to Frederick, MD!!

This campaign was started in hopes to gain a little support to engage the younger population by introducing them to a lifelong pastime that has been around since the 1800's, and has proven to be one of the most invigorating sports of all time. Not only is rollerskating fun, it's great exercise! I am also in the process of fulfilling a life-long dream; operating a roller skating rink of my very own. This sport has brought so many people such fond memories. Why not pass that torch to the next generation? Roller skating has been proven to be one the best ways to stay in shape, and burn RIDICULOUS amounts of calories without even trying.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE roller skating. I have been skating since the age of four, starting out with those old 'Ronald McDonald' looking skates with the metal wheels. I'm so grateful that my mother introduced me to this activity at such a young age.. it has stayed with me my entire life, and I still love it to this day.

My husband, daughter, and her boyfriend all skate every Saturday night. We LOVE it. But we are not the only ones who do. More and more people are slipping on those quads, taking them back decades in some instances, to some of the best times of their lives.

Quite frankly, I feel that it's extremely important to pass this sport down to our younger generation: siblings, children, and the like.

Please help me in bringing this past time to Frederick. Let's put the phones down, step away from the television, and get back to what's really important; spending time with friends and family!

We are seeking donations to help with start-up costs to open a roller skating rink in Frederick, MD. Although a majority of the startup cost will be upwards of $400,000, we need help with a portion of these costs, so that we can secure licensing, permits, registration, insurance, obtain a logo, website, and also bring one of America's favorite pastimes to Frederick, Md!

It's official: roller skating is back! Celebrities, children, teens, and adults have dusted off their quads, and are back on the wood again.

It's the sport that has been around since the 1800's that always seems to find a way to re-invent itself. That's because roller skating has excellent health benefits, and is something that potentially the whole family can enjoy together. Family togetherness has become a thing of the past unfortunately; it's time that we get back to/promote what really matters - family.

Encouraging Healthy Activities

Today, kids need help and encouragement to stay in shape and live a healthy lifestyle. Roller skating provides a great way to exercise and kids get to do what they like to do more than anything in the world - hang out with friends and listen to music.

Kids may not realize that while they are socializing with their friends on skates, the activity itself is better than running the same distance.

Demographics

The closest roller skating rink is 30 miles to the north; over 50 miles south of Frederick. Our area is in need of more varieties of entertainment that not only is fun, but is closer to home.

Youth groups of all kinds are always planning activities and we intend to provide a choice that will fill the need for a safe, well supervised facility that is fun.

My dream has always been to open and operate my own roller skating rink ever since I was a teenager. I have envisioned this so vividly, and I finally realized that in order to make dreams reality, you have to be willing to try, and I finally believe in ME.
