Helping Hands for Hunger Relief in Yemen: The humanitarian-crisis in Yemen has been labeled the worst in the world. The country, amidst a brutal civil war since 2011, and its 28-million civilians have been exposed to violence, hunger, and displacement. In February of 2019, Islamic-Relief-USA pledged $7.6 million in humanitarian assistance to Yemen. Donations have been pivotal in the aid for Yemen as famine and malnutrition are of risk to more than 70% of the country’s population. The organization also currently has workers on ground helping families with healthcare and distributing food. While the only long-term solution to the crisis seems to be a political intervention, short-term aid programs such as food distribution projects, food rations, and water tanks are crucial in helping the current situation. Islamic-Relief-USA has also been working on rallying international support for more aid in this fight against hunger.
