The Sunflower Scholarship is in honor of Emma Covington, who brightened the lives of everyone she met. Emma passed away on August 9th, 2015. The sunflower scholarship is awarded to one senior female highlander who has shown outstanding character and has an open heart at all times and to everyone.

I barely knew Emma but everytime i saw her she was bright and happy. I cried when i found out she passed, not just for her but for her friends and family. Yall are amazing for doing this and she is probably so happy looking down on yall. god bless

Emma was that person that could make you feel like you were the only person that existed when she talked to you- regardless of what you were talking about. I'm so happy we'll all continue to carry her spirit.
