About this campaign
CUNY BLSA (Black Law Students Association) is a chapter of the National Black Law Student Association that is committed to clearing the pathways for future Black attorneys. As part of our mission, we support current students seeking to practice, in the words of CUNY’s motto "law in service of human needs." In the past, we have fundraised for BLSA Community Economic Development Grants which funds summer internships for BLSA members. Last year we exceeded our goal of $12,500, and we were able to give out $16,000 worth of scholarship funds to 24 students. We ask for your assistance this year in helping us meet our summer fellowship goal of fundraising so that we can aid even more students.
This year BLSA will be awarding Summer Grants funding in four categories:
● BLSA Summer '23 Racial Justice Grant in Recognition of Outstanding Leadership within the Black Community
● BLSA Summer '23 Humanitarian Grant In Recognition of Outstanding Service within the Black Immigrant Community
● BLSA Summer '23 Mental Wellness Grant for students in need of financial support to address barriers to their academic success.
● BLSA Summer ‘23 Housing Grant for out-of-state students in need of financial support to address barriers to securing housing.
