Leo the Lion T-Shirt COTA Fundraiser

Leo is a sweet 20 month old who was born with a congenital heart defect. After two open heart surgeries failed to correct Leo’s heart, he was placed in life support and struggled to get healthy enough for to make the heart transplant list. During this time period, Leo suffered strokes caused by his life support system. Miraculously, Leo’s doctors managed stabilize him enough to make the list. On May 12, 2019, Leo received his new heart - on Mother’s Day!

After several more months in the hospital, Leo finally got to come home in August 2019. He’s a happy, healthy little boy! However, there are many medical expenses associated with Leo’s organ transplant. He is medically fragile and immune compromised. There are many therapies, medications, and continuous multi-day testing at the hospital. Leo also has a feeding tube and receives nourishment in the form of an incredibly expensive formula not covered by insurance. The family reached out to COTA - Children’s Organ Transplant Association - for fundraising assistance. COTA is a nonprofit organization with tax exempt status. They help children like Leo to raise money for organ transplant related expenses.
