About this campaign

this fundraiser calls to ALL shoppers.... many of us shop at retail stores (such as forever 21, h&m, shein, zaful, zara, and so many more) that use fast fashion to produce their clothes. if you don't know what fast fashion is, here's a quick explanation. The fashion industry, although extremely profitable, secretly kills the earth through the brands’ modern focus on replicating styles and trends on the runway and spitting out look-alikes in a very short amount of time–– as little as two weeks. These clothes are made with inexpensive materials and cheap labor, allowing Americans and Europeans to buy more for less and with greater frequency. Behind every purchase, a woman or child living in a low income country encounters poor working conditions. Additionally, the products result in harmful toxins in the water, enormous amounts of textile waste, and increased air pollution. Therefore, I am determined to help in any way that I can to help lessen the ethical and environmental cost that fashion bears. Despite the difficulties in eliminating fast fashion completely, reforming the industry will help prevent further garment waste, water pollution, and other factors that intensify the previous damage on the environment and save it from new destruction.

We are always talking about all of the damage on the climate- but how many of us are actually doing something?? Along with avoiding shopping at those fast fashion hubs (I'm guilty of buying those shein swimsuits too....) you can also purchase a shirt made from 50% recycled water bottles and 50% organic cotton. It uses recycled water when dying the fabric as well as low impact dyes. Finally, it is made in the USA. When you purchase a shirt, you will be supporting Greenpeace. Their website states: "Greenpeace uses non-violent creative action to pave the way towards a greener, more peaceful world, and to confront the systems that threaten our environment." I know the shirts aren't exactly cheap, but if they were any less expensive we would actually be supporting fast fashion through the use of unethical labor and cheap fibers-please consider buying a shirt- your ocean and mother earth thanks you!Screen Shot 2020-05-29 at 34747 PMpngScreen Shot 2020-05-29 at 34855 PMpng
