[Follow our Journey - Falcon Webcams]
Peregrine Falcons, the worlds’ fastest bird, were almost completely wiped out from the western United States by the 1970’s. With the federal ban of DDT, populations have begun to recover and many Falcons have traded in natural cliffs and mountains for hunting in skyscraper “canyons” in many cities.
In December 2016, two Peregrine Falcons moved into the historic Campanile at UC Berkeley. Annie, the territorial female, has now raised 7 successful broods of chicks and is settling in for her 8th breeding season with her current mate, Archie. The presence of Peregrine Falcons at UC Berkeley is a huge conservation success story as Annie and her mates have helped return the population of this iconic species to a healthy level.
Our fundraisers with Custom Ink are a way for us to raise funds to stream these birds 24/7 and provide material for education, outreach, and research. This is an almost-entirely crowd-funded and volunteer organization, and would not be possible without the support of thousands of fans worldwide.
