In Charlottesville, we’ve been blessed with a vibrant and diverse food scene. We’re home to an array of restaurants, food trucks, and diners serving everything from tacos to kebabs to soul food. These local businesses, and the farmers and vendors who supply them, have been devastated by the covid-19 pandemic. Even when some of the social-distancing restrictions are lifted, capacity will be limited and revenue will be nowhere near its pre-pandemic norms. Meanwhile, thousands of folks are out of work and families already living paycheck-to-paycheck are stretched even thinner.

When you buy a Charlottesville “Better Together” t-shirt you’ll be supporting the local business that prints the shirts, local restaurants, individuals and families in need, and the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.

The Details:

Buy a Charlottesville t-shirt from local printing business Custom Ink (the shirts will ship directly to you). It's cute! It's comfy! It shows your love for Cville!

50% of the profits will be used to purchase gift cards directly from small businesses in our community. Restaurants will be our first focus. We are consulting with the Charlottesville Restaurant Community Fund and other on-the-ground groups to help identify the restaurants most in need of support. The purchased gift cards will then be distributed to families and community members in need. Again, we will work with existing groups such as United Way of Greater Charlottesville to identify those in need.

50% of the profits will be donated directly to the non-profit Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. In March, the CACF established the Community Emergency Response Fund to quickly provide resources to families and organizations affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Proceeds from this campaign will help fund such efforts.
