About this campaign

Limited edition (including fun summer colors) unisex t-shirts are available for two weeks only! They are soft medium weight Gildan shirts and run true to size. Thank you for supporting Jax and Nebraska Dachshund Rescue.

When the call came in about a 12-week-old baby Dachshund with megaesophagus, we knew we had to try to help. Poor little Jax weighed just 3.5 pounds with every rib showing. If we couldn't get enough food in him and get it to stay down, he wasn't destined to survive. Today is his 15-week birthday and the struggle continues, but Jax is very determined and we are growing more confident. Jax has been making many specialty hospital vet visits to determine the cause and prognosis for his condition. While some tests are still pending, the signs are pointing to Primary Congenital Megaesophagus. That means it can't be fixed, but hopefully can be managed. He has a Bailey Chair on order that will keep him upright for 20 minutes after each feeding, which will likely need to continue for the rest of his life. For now, his amazing foster mom and dad are carrying him upright in a baby pack after he eats to make sure the food goes down and stays down. They make him a special slurry of very nutritious food that he laps up 7 times per day. He also sleeps with a neck donut to keep him from regurgitating, which could cause aspiration pneumonia - something all megaesophagus dogs are a heightened risk for developing. We aren't sure what the future holds for Jax, but for now he is very much enjoying his life as a fun, cute, cuddly little puppy and he is up to 4.2 pounds! We send you our deepest thanks for purchasing a shirt or making a donation to help root Jax on in his recovery and help with his mounting expenses. Jax sends you all his love. xoxoxoxo
