About this campaign

This fundraiser is to help fund a new Irish Pipe Band that is being formed by the Wake County, NC Division #1 Ancient Order of Hibernians.

The Wake County Ancient Order of Hibernians is happy to announce that they are forming a new Irish Pipe Band! The group is receiving help getting started from Wake & District Pipes and Drums. They band's members are looking forward to marching in the next Raleigh St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The new band will be named An Gorta Mor Memorial Pipe Band. An Gorta Mor is Irish for The Great Hunger, also known as the Famine. They will serve as a reminder to all of the Great Hunger.

“We are a service band to the Wake County, NC Division 1 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) and share their mission of Christian charity – focusing specifically on fighting hunger locally” said founding member Dennis O’Brien, “We live in a time of plenty and cannot countenance the existence of hunger in our community.”
