About this campaign
Alpha-gal Allergy, also known as the Meat Allergy or Mammalian Meat Allergy (MMA), is a reaction to the carbohydrate alpha-gal found in almost all mammals. This condition was traditionally considered to be a relatively uncommon allergy, however, it currently seems to be coming more and more prevalent in certain parts of the world, including the US. Because mammalian ingredients are so widely used to produce so many day to day products, ie. personal care items, makeup, foods, pharmaceuticals, it has been very difficult for those diagnosed with this allergy to completely avoid them. Our goal is to raise awareness of this allergy, in hopes that producers, manufacturers and food service industries would develop a better understanding of this condition and be able to clearly label their products and/or change their manufacturing processes.
