The Pennsylvania Firefly Festival is a non-profit volunteer organization. Our mission is to celebrate and build public awareness about the diverse species of fireflies in the Allegheny National Forest. The festival takes place each year on the 4th Saturday in June on the grounds of the Black Caddis Ranch in Kellettville, PA. Among the 15 different species identified in the Tionesta Creek area are the rare and spectacular "Synchronous" fireflies,that flashat the same time in thedark old growth forest.
