About this campaign

Showcase Your ABRCMS Pride: Wear your support, share your pride and be part of the movement for a more inclusive scientific future. Showcase your commitment to change, equity and the future of STEM!

All proceeds will fund the inception of ABRCMS Innovation Programs, a crucial source of support for novel initiatives that are intended to support the ABRCMS community beyond the conference and are not currently covered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) conference grant funding. These programs include (but are not limited to) the Leadership Development Academy, DEI Fellowships and Experiential Learning and Professional Development Grants for Postdoctoral Scientists and Junior Faculty.

The History of ABRCMS

Throughout history, specific communities have encountered exclusion from STEM, underscoring the importance of prioritizing their representation and involvement. Embracing diversity in STEM not only fuels problem-solving and propels inventive methodologies but also guarantees the fair dispersion of scientific progress across all communities.

Since its inception in 2001, the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS) has impacted the career development of more than 75,000 trainees and faculty across 12 scientific disciplines from all 50 states, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and, more recently, internationally. Since 2005, attendance at the conference has more than doubled to approximately 5,500 participants per year; of this number, 65% of attendees have been women and 67% have represented historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in science.

ABRCMS Innovation Programs

The ABRCMS Innovation Programs are a crucial source of support for novel initiatives not currently covered by National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant funding. Your support provides opportunities for early-career scientist advancement through innovative initiatives, including but not limited to: Leadership Development Academy, DEI Fellowships and Experiential Learning and Professional Development Grants for Postdoctoral Scientists and Junior Faculty.
