Coast Guard Hockey Government Shutdown Fundraiser

The Coast Guard traces its hockey roots back to the onset of World War II. It was at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, Maryland that the "Cutters" were formed. A mix of amateurs and NHL all-stars, the Cutters won three championships in their two seasons of competition, with seven players going on to the Hockey Hall of Fame and/or American Hockey Hall of Fame. Since 2015, Coast Guard Hockey has put sticks in the hands of over 500 members of the Coast Guard family through our coordination and participation in over 60 events. Most importantly, we have helped raise over $600,000 for numerous national and local charities including the Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial Foundation, the Coast Guard Foundation’s Fallen Hero’s Fund, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Burn Unit at the Boston Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Giving back to the community, we have coordinated times for Coasties to hit the ice with local organizations including teams in the American Special Hockey Association, Michigan Warriors Hockey, and Washington Wheelers Blind Hockey.
